Your Confluence questions survived Data Center. The Cloud app did not.
We Answered is a Q&A space for Confluence Cloud: ask, answer, accept, and decide who is allowed to do which. Built for teams moving off Questions for Confluence, or already on it and unhappy.
Not built yet. Not affiliated with Atlassian. One email when there's something to try.
How do I request a VPN certificate for an external contractor?
Raise a “Contractor access” request and attach the signed NDA. The certificate arrives by mail within one working day and expires with the contract.
The problem
Questions for Confluence didn't make the move to Cloud well
Many Data Center teams built years of answered questions in Questions for Confluence. On Cloud, the same app is hard to use, impossible to export from, and still expensive.
There is no way to get your topics out
On Confluence Cloud, Questions has had no REST API since the 2017 infrastructure move, and there is no supported export or import. Moving a Questions space today means copying it by hand.
Hard to use once it's installed
Reviewers in 2025 and 2026 report new questions that are nowhere to be found after install, uncontrolled labels, weak search, and no way to separate who may ask from who may answer.
Still priced like a core tool
The Cloud list price is about $2,500 a year at 100 users and $9,250 a year at 1,000 users. That is a lot to pay for a Q&A space people struggle to use.
“Does not work at all!”
“No import or export function, and no availability of a REST API when used with Atlassian Cloud”
28 March 2029: Confluence Data Center end of life.
What We Answered does
A Q&A space that respects how your spaces are run
The first version does a few things properly instead of many things loosely.
Ask, answer, accept
A Q&A space inside Confluence. People ask, colleagues answer, and the asker marks the answer that solved it so the next person finds it first.
Per-space control over who does what
Separate permissions for asking, answering and moderating, set per space. Let the whole company ask in IT Help, and let only the service desk answer.
Topics and title search
Admin-managed topics instead of free-for-all labels, plus a title search that finds the question before someone asks it again.
A path off Data Center
An import for the JSON you can still pull from Data Center Questions, so years of answered questions don't stay behind.
Example: the IT Help space
| Group | Ask | Answer | Moderate |
|---|---|---|---|
| All employees | – | – | |
| IT Service Desk | – | ||
| Space admins |
What it deliberately does not do
- Chat or a public internet forum
- Email marketing or its own mail system. Notifications are Confluence mentions
- Consulting or a migration project. The import is self-serve
Built for the Confluence admin at a company with a few hundred to a few thousand users, who already has a Questions space and a date to leave Data Center.
Migration
Bring your old questions with you
The import is the reason We Answered exists. It is planned as the second piece of work, right after the core app, and it is shaped by the teams who still have the data.
- 1
Export from Data Center
Data Center Questions still has a REST API. Pull your questions, answers and topics as JSON. We'll document the exact calls.
- 2
Upload into We Answered on Cloud
Pick the target space and upload the file. The importer shows what it will create before it writes anything.
- 3
Check the result
Questions, answers, accepted answers, topics, votes and dates come across. Authors are matched to Cloud accounts where the email matches.
Honest status
The importer is planned, not built. It will be written once the first five design partners confirm they still have their Data Center data and share the shape of their export. Your topic count in the waitlist form helps decide what it must handle.
Already on Questions for Confluence Cloud?
Cloud has no API for Questions, so an automatic import from Cloud may not be possible. Tell us your setup in the comment field and we'll look for a sensible route, without promising what the platform doesn't allow.

Tell me when a trial exists
Your sign-up decides whether We Answered gets built. It takes about a minute.
One email when there is a trial. No newsletter, and nothing before that.
Maybe one question about your import. Only if your answers suggest you have Data Center data.
Company emails only. The go/no-go decision counts companies, not people.
